Future Capitol students and current underclassmen can start looking forward to the brand-new Cyber Café that is coming soon to the Campus Center, thanks to this year’s Senior Class Gift.
The new Cyber Café will further utilize the Campus Center as a gathering place for students to interact, study and access the internet. Located directly adjacent to the Fitness Center and grand stairwell, the Cyber Café will include new furniture, computers, internet access and its own distinct look.
“The Cyber Café will be a bright addition to our college’s technology-based atmosphere, and will further our academic prowess in the fields of engineering and technology,” Justin Gensel, SCG co-chair, said. “Future students will benefit from this hi-tech endeavor by utilizing the café’s space to relax, research, or run any of Capitol’s high-end curriculum software.”
The Senior Class Gift is a long standing tradition at Capitol College where each departing class leaves something for the next generation. Keeping with the spirit of the SCG and the college’s technology plan, 2011 SCG co-chairs Justin Gensel and Joe Flemke are leading the senior class in efforts to fund this year’s project. These students believe that with 100% participation from the Senior Class, and involvement from faculty, staff and college friends, they can reach their goal of $5,000.
“The Cyber Café will allow the students to feel a real sense of home by surrounding the Campus Center with an ambiance of Capitol colors, in addition to some furniture embellishments,” Joe Flemke, SCG co-chair said. “In short, the goal is to give back to Capitol in terms of comfort and technology.”
“My greatest hope is that this Café becomes a Capitol College cutting-edge hub that students can’t live without,” Gensel said.
