Capitol College has announced that Anh Ho and Jason Brown have been awarded The Thomas Capshaw Memorial Scholarship and The Brigadier General Harold R. “Johnny” Johnson and Marcia Baciu Johnson Scholarship, respectively. Both scholarships will begin in the 2013-2014 academic year.
Ho, who is majoring in astronautical engineering, is a junior at Capitol College and resides in Randallstown, Md. Brown is a junior from Boonsboro, Md., and is double majoring in electrical engineering and astronautical engineering.
The Thomas Capshaw Memorial Scholarship honors the late Capitol alumnus Thomas E. Capshaw, who earned his degree in electronic engineering technology from Capitol Radio Engineering Institute (CREI), now known as Capitol College.
Each year, the scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student who is majoring in either electronics engineering technology or astronautical engineering, and who demonstrates financial need. The scholarship is awarded to one student annually in the fall semester with a fall and spring disbursement.
The Brigadier General Harold R. “Johnny” Johnson and Marcia Baciu Johnson Scholarship was established to remember the fifth president of Capitol College and his wife, Maria. Gen. Johnson served as president of the college from 1976 to 1977 and was a member of the college’s board of trustees from 1972 to 1977.
Students with career interests in innovation, entrepreneurship and business are ideally suited as candidates for this scholarship. Preference is given to applicants who are licensed Amateur Radio Operators. Preference is also given to candidates who are veterans of the US armed forces.
