Department of Defense Awards SMART Scholarship to Capitol Student

Capitol College student Elizabeth Doyle has been awarded the Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) scholarship by the Department of Defense. Doyle is currently a sophomore at Capitol College and is working toward her Bachelor of Science degree in Information Assurance.

For the duration of her scholarship, Doyle will intern during summer breaks at U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) at Fort Huachuca in Sierra Vista, Ariz., and will be required to complete post graduation employment with this sponsoring facility.

“The SMART scholars program provides the Department of Defense with personnel who have operational-critical skills,” Dr. Vic Maconachy, vice president for academic affairs at Capitol College, said. “Selection into the program is a credit to the individual as well as the institution. This is one of the many ways our college continues to serve our nation.”
