Dear campus community,
I hope you are all staying safe and well. As many of you are likely aware, leaders of Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia, have issued stay-at-home orders in response to the growing number of confirmed coronavirus cases. Capitol has no confirmed cases within our community. These orders did not change the previous plans set in place by the university for remote work or online learning. However, the increasing cases and serious actions taken by state officials have prompted us to update some previously released university COVID-19 policies, as follows:
- The remainder of the spring semester will take place online for all classes including those previously in-person, on-campus.
- All campus events of 10 or more people have been postponed through May 9, including the upcoming commencement ceremony on May 2.
- On-campus labs are closed. If you require access to a lab for academic purposes, contact your professor for permission.
- All current undergraduate semester-long and Term 1 courses for Summer 2020 will be online.

As planned, online summer registration will open tomorrow, April 1, 2020. Thank you all for your cooperation with Capitol’s efforts to keep our campus community safe as we “find a way or make one” to continue our normal practices.
Stay safe,
Melinda A. Bunnell-Rhyne
