Capitol Technology University is attending DEF CON during its 30th anniversary event starting today, August 11 through Sunday, August 14. The convention is being held at the Caesars Forum conference center in Las Vegas, Nevada, and has returned for an in-person venue, with a virtual registration option available.
DEF CON is the world’s largest annual hacking convention, stemming back to 1993 when the initial event took place. The convention draws cyber professionals and enthusiasts from around the world who are interested in the areas of cybersecurity, computer science, and information technology. Featuring several tracks of speakers, panels, demonstrations, hacking simulations, workshops, and networking opportunities, there is something for everyone in the full lineup scheduled for this year’s anniversary event.
Capitol Tech, a premiere STEM-focused university nationally recognized as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) by the National Security Agency (NSA), will be sending several professors, staff, and students to represent the university this year at the convention. President Dr. Bradford Sims, Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. William Butler, and Chair of Cybersecurity programs Dr. Kellep Charles will be greeting attendees at our booth on the convention floor. Associate Director of Admissions and Enrollment Iris Lieberman and Assistant Director of Admissions Austin Blacklaw will be managing the booth and answering all questions regarding admissions and interest in our various cyber and technology programs. A select few of Capitol Tech’s students will be in attendance as well, including members of the university’s prominent Signal-9 cyber team and those in cyber programs.
Dr. Butler will also be moderating a panel discussion hosted by the Military Cyber Professionals Association (MCPA). This edition of the National Service Panel’s (NSP) presentation will be held in partnership with Blacks in Cybersecurity (BIC), which is hosting a village at DEF CON 30.
Capitol Tech has a lot of fun and exciting things planned for the attendees of DEF CON 30.
