Capitol Hosts Scholarship Appreciation Breakfast in Recognition of Students and Benefactors

On Tuesday, October 8, Capitol Technology University hosted our annual Scholarship Appreciation Breakfast in honor of our 2024 – 2025 scholarship recipients and benefactors.

Dr. Bradford L. Sims, University President, provided the opening remarks and welcomed our attendees, emphasizing the important impact that alumni, sponsors, and partnerships can have on the success of our students. Many of our scholarships are merit-based and need-based, which support students in their academic endeavors, creating opportunities that may not have been accessible otherwise for those students who work diligently and demonstrate amazing dedication to their studies.

Professor Jeff Volosin, Director of our Astronautical and Space Engineering Program, offered his remarks as well. Recently, he established a new scholarship in honor of his late brother, Joe Volosin. Professor Volosin established this scholarship “to support students who share in Joe’s passion for learning and excitement about applying classroom knowledge to real-world engineering challenges. This scholarship aims to honor Joe’s legacy by empowering future engineers to pursue their dreams with the same curiosity, dedication, and excellence that Joe exemplified throughout his life.” The Joe Volosin Scholarship was awarded this Fall to Nathan Kinsey, an undergraduate student who exhibits a passion for Astronautical Engineering and meets the requirements of the fund.

Student and Avrum Gudelsky Memorial Scholar, Maxwell Rosenthal, gave a heartfelt speech on behalf of our students in appreciation of the donors and benefactors who have contributed their time and money to this important cause. Maxwell is an exceptional student who is pursuing a double major in Computer Science and Cybersecurity. He is very involved in our on-campus offerings, including our new Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence (AICE) and the Nightwatchers Movie Club, to name just a few.

The Avrum Gudelsky Memorial Scholarship that Maxwell received is made possible through an endowment created by Homer and Martha Gudelsky in memory of their son, Avrum. This scholarship recognizes and encourages academic excellence among outstanding seniors who are pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree. It is the highest academic honor the college confers. This scholarship is for senior level students with at least a 3.5 GPA and who have earned a minimum of 90 credits. Maxwell exemplifies the determination and excellence that characterize the many scholarship recipients at our university.
