Capitol College will host its annual “Career Day” for undergraduate students on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Every year at Career Day, undergraduate students take the day off from classes and participate in numerous workshops and lectures to better prepare them for careers and the job search.
Typically, students are broken into several groups depending on their class year and take part in a variety of activities, discussions and workshops. Topics include Capitol College’s career center and its usefulness, leadership opportunities available on campus, resume writing, cover letter writing, business etiquette techniques, the importance of internships, interview skills, networking skills, how to thrive in business lunches, networking, and how to effectively use LinkedIn. Throughout the day students learn the importance of preparing for their careers, and are taught countless tips on how to make the most of their college education.
At the end of the day, students will take part in the Club Fair, where they can learn about the various clubs and organizations on campus. This is a great time for students to get involved with various campus initiatives and learn more about the leadership positions available in each club.
Career Day is an important event on the Capitol campus, and it’s just one example of how the school prepares students to hit the ground running, well before they graduate.
