We are honored to introduce our 2024 Commencement speaker: Jennifer Delgado of Fox 5 DC News!
As an esteemed meteorologist with a rich career spanning multiple networks, Jennifer brings her wealth of experience to this dynamic industry. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, her academic journey began at Webster University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Media Communications. She furthered her education at Mississippi State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Geosciences and specializing in Broadcast Meteorology. Jennifer's meteorology career took flight at WTVR-TV in Richmond, Virginia, in 2006. Her talent was quickly recognized, and she soon transitioned to CNN International in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2008. Here, she served as their primary meteorologist, earning a prestigious Peabody Award in 2010 for CNN’s coverage of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
In 2013, Jennifer joined The Weather Channel as a co-host of AMHQ, where she was responsible for continuous coverage of breaking news and weather events. Additionally, during this time, she served as a fill-in co-host for the Wake-Up with Al Roker morning show in New York. In 2017, Jennifer started freelancing for WXIA-TV in Atlanta. In this role, she delivered frequent weathercasts and created content for radio, web, and the 24-hour weather channel.
During this time, Jennifer was unfortunately diagnosed with a rare blood cancer. She fought tirelessly, undergoing months of chemotherapy treatment and ultimately receiving a life-saving bone marrow transplant. Her experience as a cancer survivor has inspired her to become an advocate for blood cancer awareness. Jennifer also volunteers her time with Happy Tails Pet Therapy, bringing joy to cancer patients by visiting them with her dogs.
After her brief hiatus to battle and triumph over cancer, Jennifer became a key figure at FOX’s WAGA in Atlanta. Today, she continues her career as a meteorologist for FOX 5 DC, bringing her expertise and passion to the nation's capital. Now calling D.C. home and exploring the city with her three adored pups, Jennifer Delgado continues to inspire with her tenacity, dedication, and passion for her craft.
