Dr. Željko (Z.) Torbica

Academic AffairsDr. Željko (Z.) Torbica is the Vice President of Academic Affairs with Capitol Technology University. Dr. Torbica brings over 35 years of international experience in academia and industry, having held faculty and leadership positions at several U.S. universities. He served as Head of the School of Construction Management Technology at Purdue University (2019–2022), Dean of the Leonard C. Nelson College of Engineering and Sciences at West Virginia University Institute of Technology (2012–2019), and Director of the Construction Management Program at Drexel University (2009–2012). In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Torbica has extensive experience as a practitioner, consultant, and business executive in engineering, construction, and real estate development.
Throughout his career, Dr. Torbica has been recognized with numerous awards, delivered keynote addresses at international conferences, and published in top-tier professional journals. He has led large-scale projects with budgets in the hundreds of millions of dollars, served on the prestigious Baldrige National Quality Award Board of Examiners, and completed executive leadership programs at Columbia University and Harvard University.
Dr. Torbica holds a Ph.D. in Construction Management from the University of Florida. He is a Fellow of the American Society for Quality, a Certified General Contractor in Florida, and holds Project Management Professional (PMP) and Quality Engineer (QE) certifications.
