Business and ManagementMary Smikle Peoples is a Professor of Practice of Business and Management at Capitol Technology University. She was born in Buffalo, New York, and relocated to Maryland in 1996. Her career consists of 30 years in Higher Education Administration. She had the pleasure of developing various skill sets in financial aid administration and ultimately was promoted to Director. She served as Director of Financial Aid for 14 years. Mary has worked in several business areas, including serving as an Assistant Manager for a Credit Union, Education Program Manager for a National Association, and Property Manager. She is an Educator committed to student success in the classroom and beyond.
She often quotes Maya Angelou: "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
Some advice that she offers to students is: Not all days are the same, some days will be harder than others. When you’re overwhelmed, learn to take a break but do not quit.
