Dr. Heather Holmes is a Dissertation Chair of Graduate Programs and Adjunct Professor with Capitol Technology University. Dr. Holmes taught with Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) from 2009 to 2012 as a teacher in a Title 1 school. There, she taught elementary students math and science, and coordinated student internships at local high schools. From 2012 to present, she has worked with Montgomery County Public Schools as a math content specialist. At Capitol, she teaches English Communication courses and mentors doctoral students with a focus in data analysis and research.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Oakwood University in 2009, Master of Arts degree in Reading (reading specialist) from Johns Hopkins University, and Doctor of Education degree in Leadership and Management from Capella University. Dr. Holmes has worked at four institutions as a teacher, testing coordinator, and math content coach. Her research interests include quality teaching and learning in STEM education, professional development for educators, and incorporation of STEM in traditional non-STEM fields. 

When she is not teaching, Dr. Holmes is spending time with her family, supporting her children in sports, traveling, and reading. 

Some advice that she offers to her students is: Excellence is No Accident. Commit yourself to the work and it will pay off.
