Commencement Information

Our Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2025 will be held on Saturday, May 3, with a hooding ceremony for doctoral graduates on Friday, May 2. The Graduating Student & Alumni Reception will be held Friday evening, May 2.

Important: Deadline for graduation application is January 4, 2025.

Important Dates

Friday, May 2, 2025

Doctoral Hooding Ceremony

  • Time: 4:00 p.m. 
  • Location: On-campus, Avrum Gudelsky Auditorium
  • Our Doctoral candidates are invited to take part in a special Hooding Ceremony, as well as attend our Commencement Ceremony the following day. 

Graduating Student & Alumni Reception

  • Time: 5:30 p.m.
  • Location: On-campus, McGowan Academic Center
  • All graduating students, alumni, and their guests are invited to attend our reception event for a night of refreshments, music, and fun!

Graduation Requirements for Students

For graduating students: Be sure to familiarize yourself with the steps you'll need to take to graduate, such as applying for graduation, completing degree requirements, settling financial obligations, and attending the Commencement Ceremony.

Graduating students should visit the myCapitol portal for detailed information regarding graduation procedures, requirements, regalia (cap and gown), ordering announcements and commemorative keepsakes, and more.

For any additional questions, or to ensure you qualify for graduation, please consult the Office of Registration and Records.

Note: Students who wish to participate in the spring 2025 Commencement Ceremony must apply for graduation by January 4, 2025.

Failure to complete these tasks may preclude you from one or more of the following: participating in the graduation ceremony, having your degree conferred, and receiving your diploma.
