As we celebrate Women's History Month, we'd like to shine a spotlight on the remarkable contributions of women everywhere, especially in the world of STEM.

According to the federal bureau of labor statistics, more than 90% of all aircraft pilots are white males. When looking specifically at commercial airline pilots, estimates indicate that fewer than 7% of them are women with only about 1% are women of color. This lack of diversity is part of a significant challenge for the aviation industry, and it’s one that United Airlines is taking on through a new flight school and an ambitious goal for the next decade. 

Women in space exploration continually break through historic barriers. A recent study on female astronauts of spacewalks demonstrated that women excel in this work, underscoring the importance of diversity in space missions.

Women drive consumer spending and yet make up only 35% of product management positions. More women in product management would improve representation and bring a unique perspective to cross-functional teams' product solutions.

The need for women in cybersecurity has been persistent with it remaining a male-dominant field. However, the demand for more women in the cyber field is greater than ever as the industry faces a shortage of skilled professionals.

Today, March 8th, is the annual observance of International Women’s Day, a day celebrating the significant impact of women to all aspects of our society.

Dr. Radia Perlman’s introduction to programming came early. Born on December 18, 1951 in Portsmouth, Virginia to her father, an engineer, and her mother, a mathematician and computer programmer, Dr. Perlman was a gifted student in math and science.
