Capitol Tech Offers a Year-to-Year Undergraduate Placement Rate Over 80% in a STEM Field

Capitol Technology University was founded in Washington, D.C., as the Capitol Radio Engineering Institute (CREI) in 1927 by Eugene H. Rietzke. A Navy veteran and radio operator, Rietzke saw the need for an advanced school that would produce talented radio and electronics technicians. CREI began as a correspondence school, but its popularity led to the 1932 opening of a residence division, allowing students to work hands-on in laboratories. As radio technology improved, new training programs and courses were quickly added. Following World War II, CREI became one of the first three technical institutes accredited by the Engineers’ Council for Professional Development.

Today, we continue supporting all our students to obtain a great career or advance their career in a STEM or Management of STEM area.  Our undergraduate degree programs provide a year-to-year placement rate over 80% within 90 days of graduation and we offer a commitment to this promise as well called, “The Capitol Commitment”.  This commitment states, “If you graduate with a qualified bachelor’s degree, you’ll find a position in engineering, engineering technology, computer sciences, information technology or business within 90 days of graduation. If you don’t, Capitol will provide up to 36 additional undergraduate credits — tuition free — while you continue your job search.”

The Capitol Tech alumni have also one of the best ROI’s (return on investment) in the nation.  Georgetown University released a report using data from the expanded College Scorecard, this report ranks 4,500 colleges and universities by return on investment titled, “A First Try at ROI: Ranking 4,500 Colleges.”  Capitol Technology University was ranked 213 out of 4,500 with a 20 year NPV, ranked 141 out of 4,500 after a 30 year NPV, and over a 40 year lifetime of work, ranked 120 out of 4,500 college/universities.  “Capitol Tech has existed over 90 years to provide all our students a great career and to support the industry that drives the U.S. economy,” says Dr. Sims, President of the University.
