The following rates are in effect for the 2024-2025 academic year, beginning in Fall 2024 and continuing through Summer 2025.

• The per credit charge for all other master courses is $630 per credit hour.
• The active duty military tuition rate is $350 per credit.
• The retired military tuition rate is $530 per credit.

The FAFSA Simplification Act

The FAFSA Simplification Act was passed by Congress in 2020 requiring a significant overhaul of the processes and systems used to award federal student aid. This includes major changes to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form as well as the need analysis formulas used to determine federal aid eligibility. There are also changes to terminology as well as, policies and procedure changes for institutions that participate in federal student aid programs.

Department of Education announced January 30, 2024 it has delayed the sending of 24/25 Institutional Student Income Reports (ISIR) (the results of the 24/25 FAFSA) to schools until mid-March at the earliest.  This will delay students receiving their award letters until late March or early April.

20204/2025 FAFSA

Complete your 2024/2025 FAFSA now to eliminate further delays in your awarding of financial aid.  The 2024-2025 FAFSA was launched on December 31, 2023 when typically, it was available October 1^st each year.

Hometown Heroes Tuition Discount

We honor those who serve their local communities:

• Community College faculty and staff
• High school teachers and administrators
• Emergency Personnel (EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, and police)
• Department of Defense Employees

These heroes receive a 20% tuition discount for graduate programs (Master’s and Doctoral Degrees).

EdAssist Partner Discount

As a member of EdAssist’s Featured Provider Network, Capitol Technology University offers employees and immediate family members of all EdAssist clients a 20% tuition discount and application fee waiver for undergraduate and graduate programs. EdAssist administers tuition assistance benefits for over 200 companies. Contact your HR department to find out if you’re employer is an EdAssist supported organization.

Blue Ribbon Program

Capitol Technology University designed the Blue Ribbon program to provide working professionals who are not eligible for the Yellow Ribbon Program a funding resource for their master's program. There are three funding opportunities under the Blue Ribbon Program:

1. Cancellation Assistance. If you start the program with benefits and your benefits are canceled after you start, we will pay 50% of the tuition. This is only for the course you are attending at the time of your benefits cancelation.
2. Discounts. Once you finish your first 3 courses you are eligible for a $500 per course discount for your next three classes.
3. Referrals. If you recommend someone to Capitol, they apply, are accepted and enroll in a course, you will receive 1 free course.

Loans

The federal government makes low-interest loans available to graduate students. Like all loans, these must be repaid. Students must be enrolled at least half-time (six credits) each semester and can borrow up to their cost of attendance minus all other financial aid received.

Federal Unsubsidized Direct Loan

Graduate students can take out a low-interest Unsubsidized Direct Loan through a program sponsored by the federal government. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid determines a student’s eligibility. If you file a FAFSA and include the Capitol Technology University school code, 001436, Capitol’s Financial Aid Office will inform you of the loan amount for which you qualify. The maximum amount a Grad student may apply for is $20,500 per academic year based on their eligibility. The interest rate is variable and accrues on the loan during in-school and grace periods. Interest may be paid as it accrues or it can be added to the loan principal. To apply for the Unsubsidized Direct Loan go to www.studentaid.gov to complete the Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling session.

Federal Direct Grad PLUS Loan

The PLUS program, also sponsored by the federal government, is available to graduate students who have borrowed their maximum annual or aggregate loan amount to help pay for education regardless of financial need. Students must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credits).

• The loan is based on credit history. Grad student must have good credit history.
• A FAFSA must be completed.
• Grad student may borrow up to the cost of the education minus any other aid. Grad student must complete the PLUS Master Promissory Note and credit check found online at http://www.studentloans.gov. The credit check must be done each academic year the loan is borrowed.
• Grad students with adverse credit history may be required to complete an online Entrance Counseling Session before the loan can be disbursed.
• Interest accrues upon disbursement. Interest can be paid as accrued or added to the principal of the loan.
• Repayment begins immediately after the final disbursement for the academic year.
• The interest rate for the PLUS is variable, with a maximum rate of 9 percent. The rate is adjusted every July 1, based on the 52-week Treasury Bill on June 1, plus 3.1 percent.

Step 1: Complete the application

Master's Program Requirements

To be considered, you must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution, with a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Students who have not met the 3.0 undergraduate cumulative GPA requirements or do not meet all of the program specific prerequisites are provided an opportunity to gain full acceptance. Depending on the degree program, additional information may be requested. In this case, students are provisionally admitted and limited to three courses of enrollment. To achieve full acceptance, provisional students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA in their first three graduate courses. Upon doing so, students are automatically converted to full acceptance status. If a provisional student fails to achieve a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA after completing three courses, then he or she will be academically dismissed, and will not be permitted to enroll in any further courses.

Although it is rare, Capitol Technology University reserves the right to request that an applicant take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) to be considered for admission.

Step 2: Submit your transcripts

Have your undergraduate degree transcripts sent to Capitol. An official, signed transcript must be sent directly from your school(s) to the Office of Admissions. If you attended more than one institution, only those transcripts with the final degree posted should be submitted. Transcripts should be mailed to:

For those applicants who have attended a post-secondary college and/or university outside of the United States, you must have your academic records evaluated by a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) organization member. Regardless of citizenship, language or home country, you must have your academic records evaluated by a NACES organization member. When selecting the type of evaluation, please be sure to select Course by Course Evaluation.

Step 3: Attend a virtual Master's info session

Capitol Technology University offers prospective graduate students the opportunity to attend a virtual info session, a unique online session where you can experience the interactive online classroom format that is CapitolLIVE! Attendees should expect to learn about what Capitol has to offer and become familiar with available graduate degree programs, while meeting and speaking live with faculty members and admissions representatives.

Step 4: Explore financial aid

If you're applying for need-based financial aid, obtain the Free Application for Federal Student Aid after Jan. 1. The FAFSA is due March 2 to the Department of Education. Be sure to note Capitol Technology University's U.S. Department of Education Institutional Code: 001436.

Step 5: Review the Master's schedule of classes

Most courses begin every two months.

As a master's student, you can apply — and be accepted — at any time. Most courses are eight weeks long and are offered in six terms throughout the year. However, the MSCS and our M.Res. Programs are 16-week semester based with one start per semester (Fall, Spring and Summer). After filing an application, you can begin taking courses in the next term. Note, however, that there are deadlines for financial aid.
