Capitol graduate student and former military Sergeant James Arthur Smith, Sr. joins the ranks of leading professionals



Sergeant James Arthur Smith, Sr., Information Assurance Engineer for SRA International, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in technical and call center support, engineering, desktop support, security administration and network administration.

Sgt. Smith served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, completing over 12 years of active duty. For the remainder of his service, he trained soldiers as part of the Reserves. In 2005, he joined SRA International, Inc., where he is responsible for managing technology and strategic consulting services and solutions for Federal government organizations and commercial clients and supporting internal and external communities within the Federal government. He attributes his success to his faith in God and the support he receives from his wife, closest friends, family, and current and past managers. The highlight of his career was working at the New Executive Office of the President of the United States.

Sgt. Smith is pursuing his Master's Degree in Information Assurance at Capitol College. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems in 2001. He holds a certificate of completion in NIST Concepts/Security II, a certificate of completion in Information Systems Security Professional, and recently received a National Institute of Standards and Technology Process Training completion certificate. In addition, he is CompTia Security Certified, a Certified Microsoft Professional and holds a certificate of completion as a Cisco Network Associate.

He is a member of Microsoft Corporation's Partner Program, Men's Ministry, Gideon's Army and the Non Commissioned Officers Association. For his military service, he received the Army Meritorious Service Medal, the Army National Guard Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Accommodation Medal, and was a dual recipient of the Army Achievement Medal. He was also awarded various certificates of achievement.

In his spare time, he volunteers as a youth mentor at his local church and names Hosea Feed The Hungry and Homeless as his favorite charity. He aspires to become a project manager and lead an information technology team, travel and get more involved in ministry.
